UltraFlight Radio

(From Dan Johnson)

Hello All:

Perhaps some of you have already heard, but in the interest of assuring that you've been informed, let me pass on the following sad news.

Yesterday, at about 6:00 p.m. Scott Wilcox succumbed to complications that developed from his fight with diabetes. He had been ill for a few weeks, but this news caught me very much off guard as I've been out of the mainstream for the past month.

Because I did not submit an article for the June Ultralight Flying! issue, Scott and I hadn't spoken recently. But even in late March Scott told me how he was improving from a health scare at the Sebring Expo last January.

For two decades Scott has been editor of Ultralight Flying! and a good personal friend of mine as we flew hundreds of photo missions over the central Florida pasture lands that surrounded our base of operations for one intensive week per year. I will miss him greatly as my aerial partner and the aviation community will no longer view a "Photo By Scott Wilcox."

A memorial is planned soon; I don't have those details at this time. However, in lieu of flowers or other gifts, a cash gift to his wife Sharon would be most helpful, according to the staff of Ultralight Flying!. Scott passed away without life insurance (and inadequate health insurance, I suspect). A week of Intensive Care Unit expenses will be difficult for Sharon to absorb. I do not send this note to solicit, but if you wish to do anything, the best assistance would be to consider Sharon's financial needs.

Her home address is:

Sharon Wilcox
7432 Hydrus Dr.
Harrison TN 37341

Thanks, all, and sorry to be the bearer of sad news...but I felt sure you'd want to know.

Dan

If you know others that would want to know this information, feel free to forward this mail (I surely missed some worthy recipients).
