Jeff Williams joins us from Oshkosh to talk about Powrachute's new "Performance +" wing system for the Pegasus. The Performance + wing system is designed to provide approximately 150-160 pounds of additional lift. Benefits are a smaller parachute wing size for better inflations and less drag, an increase in airspeed and glide, less fuel burn, better climb rate, and more stability in flight. On the other side of the United States, Baron Tayler is preparing to embark on another long journey. His plan is to fly across the continental United States in a powered parachute. He's starting from the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS Midway in San Diego and (after flying through 14 states and covering 3,600 miles) plans to finish the trip on the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS Yorktown in Charlestown, South Carolina. Eulalie Langford
Eulalie Langford is the former state representative from Idaho that helped take up the cause of a rancher that wanted to use his powered parachute for predator control. It turned out that the effort took more than passing a state law to allow aerial hunting. Environmentalists turned in the "aerial gunner" to the FAA, who initially shut down the practice despite the state law. Now there is an agreement worked out that involves (of all things) the new Sport Pilot regulations. Listen in for a great story. (4/25/06)
