Earl Lawrence, Experimental Aircraft Association
Earl Lawrence talks about an item fresh from the bad idea department, the Nevada Clark County Board of Commissioners' resolution calling on their state's Congressional delegation to work to remove federal authority over the nation's civilian airspace. The plan is to allow individual counties to be able to take federal funding AND be able to ban aircraft from airports at their will. You know who that will target: experimental aircraft, light sport aircraft, ultralight aircraft, helicopters, and even some larger aircraft. Experimental Aircraft Association (12/9/08)

Robert Heimberger, St. Louis Rotocraft Club
If you fly and own a unique aircraft, you may have a hard time deciding who to take with you when you get the unsolicited invitation to "go with you" the next time you fly. Bob Heimberger has discovered a way to sort out the really dedicated from the flight moochers. By asking wannabe pilots to take the free AOPA Pinch Hitter online course, he's able to sort out the prospective ride recipients who aren't really interested in becoming pilots themselves. There are other benefits to having an educated passenger, too. St. Louis Rotocraft Club (12/9/08)

With winter coming, the air is becoming denser and that means wings, props, and engines all work better.
