Jeff Williams, Powrachute
Jeff Williams joins us from Oshkosh to talk about Powrachute's new "Performance +" wing system for the Pegasus. The Performance + wing system is designed to provide approximately 150-160 pounds of additional lift. Benefits are a smaller parachute wing size for better inflations and less drag, an increase in airspeed and glide, less fuel burn, better climb rate, and more stability in flight. Jeff's the one that's been testing the prototype and he tells us about how it flies. We also talk about the new Sky Rascal Sea Mariner. The Sky Rascal Sea Mariner is a combined effort with another company to produce a single seat PPC on full lotus floats. Powrachute (7/25/06)

Edsel Ford, FAA Light Sport Aviation Branch
Van Stumpner, FAA Light Sport Aviation Branch
Edsel Ford and Van Stumpner talk with us about the long-awaited change to Order 8130.2F. Big changes have to do with the operating limitations that apply to Experimental Light Sport Aircraft. Until now, if you got an airworthiness certificate under the previous version of the order, you would not be able to fly your E-LSA aircraft over congested areas or at night. This change allows those operations. Edsel and Van tell us how the change works and how to take advantage of the new operating limitations even if you have an N-number aircraft with the old version of the limitations. Dr. John Hastings, Chairman, EAA Aeromedical Advisory Council
Recently a story was published in Texas where the operations director of the Mesquite City Airport told the Dallas Morning News regarding sport pilots, "If they don't have to get a medical, or if there are ones who do this because they can't pass the medical, then they probably shouldn't be flying." While the newspaper seemed satisfied with her medical opinion, we talk with Dr. Hastings, who probably knows just a little more about the medical issues regarding sport aviation.
