FAA Administrator Marion Blakey ordered an administrative move on Wednesday, March 24, that keeps the sport pilot/light-sport aircraft rule on track for final approval this spring. She withdrew the proposal from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to answer several final questions about the rulemaking package. Jack McCornack has earned the Moody Award for his more than 25 years as an educator, designer, writer and pilot. Jack has trained pilots in preparation for national and international competition. In addition, he has participated in the World Air Games and the World Microlight Competition. In 1978, Pterodactyl Ltd. - founded by Jack was the only ultralight manufacturer with a formal flight training system. The training manual entered the public domain when it was published in Glider Rider; now Ultralight Flying! Magazine. Jon Jacobs set an ultralight recorddistance in a straight line with limited fuelon November 30, covering 170 miles with just 7.5 kilograms (about 2.7 gallons) of fuel in his Mitchell Wing b-10.
