UltraFlight Radio can now be found live on Tuesday UltraFlight Radiomornings right here on the web at www.ultraflightradio.com at 10:00am Eastern Standard Time and 7:00am Pacific Time. But you don't have to hear it live to hear it.

You can also hear (previous shows) at the show archive. We make it convenient for you.

To be a part of the show and you are in the U.S., you can call toll-free: 1-866-613-1612. If you are somewhere that the toll-free number does not work, you can reach us at 1-858-268-3068. Another (often better) way to get questions to us is by E-mail. You can write Roy at roy@easyflight.com

Edsel Ford, FAA Light Sport Aviation Branch
We visit with Edsel Ford about aircraft markings and placarding. Some people are getting surprised when they meet the DAR for the first time and learn that their aircraft doesn't quite have the markings the way they should be to pass their airworthiness inspection. We review the basics so that you don't become one of the surprised people. Light Sport Aviation Branch

Tom Riley, Taskem Corp.
It's been years since we last visited with Tom Riley. Well, we correct that oversight and catch up with him to find out what is going on in the world of digital engine and flight instrumentation. Taskem Corp.

Steve Raklovits, Steve's Para Sports
Steve Raklovits has been working for years on systems that allow powered parachutes to take off from water. He's now building a powered parachute with Powrachute that meets the ultralight standards and operates with floats. We talk about his work in a very niche area of aviation. Steve's Para Sports

Kim Borne, Air-Tech, Inc.
We get a special treat this week and visit with Kim Borne of Air-Tech. She visits with customers every day when they order parts for their aircraft. She talks with us about what to do before you pick up the phone to order parts. Her advice here can save you time and money when you're working on your airplane. Air-Tech, Inc

Shawn Okun, Float Planes And Amphibs
Shawn Okun is just back from Australia where he spent time at the Airborne factory. We talk about their facility, the trikes themselves, and new products on the horizon. Float Planes And Amphibs

Chris Dancy, Airplane Owners and Pilots Association
If you're a general aviation pilot, you probably want to be at the Palm Springs Convention Center on the first weekend in November. AOPA is having their annual convention there with the full setup of exhibit booths, display aircraft and seminars. Chris Dancy from the AOPA joins us to explain to us what to expect there. Airplane Owners and Pilots Association

Remember, if you have any questions you want to ask the guests or you have any of your own comments about a topic, please call the show toll free when we're live at (866) 613-1612. If you have a show idea or know someone that would be a guest on the show (that could be you!) Contact Roy.

Hope you get a chance to listen in!

And if You Missed The October 17th Show...

You Can Still Get It In The Archives

We archive shows for four to six weeks. But for your convenience, you can access segments from last weeks show straight from this E-mail. Get Windows Media PlayerJust click on the segment number.

If this is the first time you plan to listen to the radio show, you may need to download a copy of Windows Media Player. Don't fret, there are versions for the Mac, too.

Dale Hooper, United States Ultralight Association, Inc.
The Cory Lidle crash last Wednesday in New York City has created a lot of interest in General Aviation, most of it not very pleasant. The aviation organizations have been called upon to educate and bring some reason to both the press and some politicians who seem to be ready to shut down much of private aviation. Sometimes local media wants to do stories with "home town spins" by soliciting local pilots for interviews. If you're contacted, the best answer is normally to refer the media to the aviation organization of your choice, since they are used to dealing with the media. BUT, if you do want to talk to the press, Dale Hooper gives us some tips on what to say and not say. United States Ultralight Association, Inc.

Doug Ritter, Equipped To Survive
For pilots taking the sport pilot practical test for any category of aircraft, the question arises, "Exhibit knowledge of the elements related to emergency equipment appropriate to the following environmental conditions:
1. mountain terrain.
2. large bodies of water.
3. desert conditions.
4. extreme temperature changes."
Well, we bring an emergency equipment expert, Doug Ritter, on to give us some ideas of how to answer those questions. Equipped To Survive

Arthur Greenfield, National Aeronautic Association
Arthur Greenfield was newly elected Vice President and Secretary of the FAI General Aviation Commission (GAC). We offer congratulations and talk to him about what the GAC does, what the NAA does, and how it all relates to the FAI. For good measure, we talk about what all the acronyms mean and how many frequent flier miles Art manages to earn representing the USA at meetings all over the world. Mike Stratman, California Power Systems, Inc.
Mike Stratman clears up the differences between the Rotax 912 S and 912 ULS engines. Even thought they are basically the same engine, one is for certified and S-LSA aircraft and the other isn't. One can be worked on by anyone and the other needs special training. Mike can also answer your four stroke and two stroke ultralight aircraft engine questions. Do you have questions? When the show is live, call your questions in at (866) 613-1612 or you can IM them in on AOL or Yahoo Instant Messenger to UFRadio. California Power Systems (10/17/06)
