You can listen to the only All-Sport Aviation Radio Show on the Internet
and...
Check Out The Schedule of Sport Aviation Events Below
|
UltraFlight Radio can now be found live on Tuesday mornings right here on the web at www.ultraflightradio.com at 10:00am Eastern Standard Time and 7:00am Pacific Time. But you don't have to hear it live to hear it.
You can also hear (previous shows) at the show archive. We make it convenient for you.
To be a part of the show and you are in the U.S., you can call toll-free: 1-866-613-1612. If you are somewhere that the toll-free number does not work, you can reach us at 1-858-268-3068. Another (often better) way to get questions to us is by E-mail. You can write Roy at roy@easyflight.com
Paul Hamilton, Adventure Productions
Paul Hamilton joins us to talk about the 2007 editions of the Knowledge Test Prep books by ASA. We talk about the new edition of the FAA knowledge tests for trike and powered parachute certified flight instructors (CFIs). Those tests seem to have become more appropriate to their respective categories. We have a discussion about some ways to improve the tests even more. Adventure Productions
Brian & Carol Carpenter, Rainbow Aviation Services
We missed out on the Carpenters' report on some good news last week so we try again this week. They just submitted the weight shift module for the Light Sport Aircraft Repairman Course to the FAA for acceptance. On top of that, they're in the process of putting the finishing touches on the module for powered parachutes. Both modules are scheduled to be offered at the end of October. Brian and Carol talk about these very unique courses and what's included in them. Rainbow Aviation
Thomas Janetzke, EAA 2006 Gold Lindy Award Winner (Flex Wing)
Tom Janetzke made history at AirVenture this year. 2006 was the first time that a powered parachute has ever won a Gold Lindy Award, just about the highest award anyone can hope for at Oshkosh. Tom joins us to talk about the prize winning aircraft and the things he did to build it. Hughes Aero
Ronnie Smith, South Mississippi Light Aircraft
Ronnie talks to us about the Rotax 912 series of engines. We answer a listener's question about the increased maintenance if you burn 100LL fuel. Ronnie also lets the cat out of the bag about the new engine case for the 912 series of engines and what the improvements accomplish. Ronnie can also answer your four stroke and two stroke ultralight aircraft engine questions. Do you have questions? When the show is live, call your questions in at (888) 514-2100 or you can IM them in on AOL or Yahoo Instant Messenger to UFRadio. South Mississippi Light Aircraft
Jim Sweeney, USUA and NAPPF Board Member
Jim Sweeney tells us how to log training time towards a sport pilot rating. Basic Flight Instructors (BFIs) and Ultralight Flight Instructors (UFIs) can train pilots for Sport Pilot ratings. We have gotten some questions from both students and trainers on how to log that training time properly. You can get here what you can't get in FAA literature. SweeneyCorp, USUA, NAPPF
Allan Tuttle, Stanley Sport Aviation's Fly-In
Allan Tuttle joins us from Nova Scotia to talk about one of Canada's oldest Fly-In events, the 36th Annual Labor Day Weekend Fly-In. Featuring ultralights and sport aircraft, this looks like a great event. Allan talks about the history of the fly-in, what can be seen this year, and perhaps a little bit about the flying rules in Canada. Stanley Sport Aviation
Remember, if you have any questions you want to ask the guests or you have any of your own comments about a topic, please call the show toll free when we're live at (888) 514-2100. If you have a show idea or know someone that would be a guest on the show (that could be you!) Contact Roy.
Hope you get a chance to listen in!

And if You Missed The August 15th Show...
You Can Still Get It In The Archives
|
We archive shows for four to six weeks. But for your convenience, you can access segments from last weeks show straight from this E-mail. Just click on the segment number.
If this is the first time you plan to listen to the radio show, you may need to download a copy of Windows Media Player. Don't fret, there are versions for the Mac, too.
Mark Aldridge, Federal Aviation Administration
Change 1 to the Practical Test Standards for Sport Pilots was just introduced a few weeks ago. We talk with the FAA's author of a lot of those changes about how a PTS fits into the big scheme of things. We learn about what a PTS is required for and what the standards are and are not designed to do. You can download free copies of all of the PTS's by visiting the link: FAA Pilot Practical Test Standards (8/15/06)

Erik Pederson, Phantom Aeronautics
It's been awhile since we visited with Erik Pederson. We get an update on the rotary engine he's been testing for aviation use. We also check into the progress on the S-LSA version of the Phantom. We talk about some of the design features being integrated into the aircraft. Phantom Aeronautics (8/15/06)

Bever Borne, Air-Tech, Inc.
Bever Borne talks about fuel line. Have you ever wondered why ultralights have clear fuel line but other aircraft don't? Bever talks about that and how and when to maintain the fuel line. Bever can also answer your four stroke and two stroke ultralight aircraft engine questions. Do you have questions? When the show is live, call your questions in at (888) 514-2100 or you can IM them in on Yahoo Instant Messenger to UFRadio. Roy@EasyFlight.com is the address you can use to E-mail those questions in. Air-Tech, Inc (8/15/06)

Jim Sweeney, USUA and NAPPF Board Member
Jim Sweeney talks to us about the requirements to report aviation accidents and incidents. He talks about the reporting differences between ultralights and light sport aircraft. Jim also talks about how to determine what kinds of accidents and incidents are reportable and how to make the report. The reference for this discussion is NTSB 830. SweeneyCorp, USUA, NAPPF (Part 1) (8/15/06)
