To be a part of the show and you are in the U.S., you can call toll-free: 1-866-613-1612. If you are somewhere that the toll-free number does not work, you can reach us at 1-858-268-3068. Another (often better) way to get questions to us is by E-mail. You can write Roy at roy@easyflight.com

Dan Johnson, ByDanJohnson.com
Recently the light aviation world lost a well known personality. For two decades Scott Wilcox was editor of Ultralight Flying Magazine. Dan Johnson joins us to talk about Scott and talk a little about his relationship with the man. Scott and Dan flew together on hundreds of photo missions over the central Florida pasture lands each year for one intensive week of gathering information for flight reviews. We will talk about what Scott did for the aviation community while he was with us. Click here to learn how you can help Scott's family.

Julie Potter, Kemmerie's Aviation
Julie Potter has become the first female Light Sport Aircraft Repairman. She just returned from the intensive three week course offered at Rainbow Aviation. She talks about the course, why she attended, and how she will put her new knowledge to work. Kemmerie's Aviation

Chris Gamble, KISS-Engineering
Chris Gamble has been busy working on a new light weight engine design for airplanes. By researching patents from years ago, he has found some ideas that were a little ahead of their time. Can you believe a 330 cubic inch engine with a finished weight of approximately 165 lbs? The engine design can use either regular or diesel fuel and has a 3 1/2 inch bore and 4 inch stroke. Chris will be displaying the engines at the "World's Smallest" Air Show at Brian Ranch on May 27th & 28th, but you get to see them here first. KISS-Engineering

Bever Borne, Air-Tech, Inc.
Weight and balance on an airplane is serious business. Bever talks about why that information is important for the pilot and the process used to determine it for a light airplane. Air-Tech, Inc

Jim Sweeney, USUA and NAPPF Board Member
Jim Sweeney talks about the what the steering controls on a powered parachute might be called. There are several different names for what is being accomplished by deforming the wing for a turn. We go through the names and try to figure which ones work better than others. SweeneyCorp, USUA, NAPPF.

David Lequire
SuperDave is having his 7th Annual Powered Parachute Fly-In. He joins us to talk about all the things you can expect to see and do in Ashland, Kentucky on the Fly-In Weekend. Learn more about the event here.

Remember, if you have any questions you want to ask the guests or you have any of your own comments about a topic, please call the show toll free when we're live at (888) 514-2100. If you have a show idea or know someone that would be a guest on the show (that could be you!) Contact Roy.

Hope you get a chance to listen in!

And if You Missed The May 16th Show...

Larry Culver, FAA AFS-630
The Sport Pilot Knowledge Test, the computerized multiple choice test that pilots take as an important part of becoming Sport Pilots, has been changed. Where there once was one generic test, very soon there will be seven new tests that include questions from the different categories of aircraft such as weight shift control, airplane, and powered parachute. Larry Culver and Tom Forchtner are the FAA people that created the tests and they tell us about the process. (5/16/06)

Mike Loehle, Loehle Aircraft
Mike Loehle created Loehle Aero Coatings for the experimental aircraft builder. But now a lot of other industries have become interested in the painting system. What was designed for the home builder is now being used by museums and military organizations to paint aircraft like an F-15 fighter, a TBM Avenger, and a Huey helicopter. If that isn't cool enough, learn how NASA is using Loehle Aero Coatings. Loehle Aircraft Corporation (5/16/06)

Shawn Okun, Float Planes And Amphibs
Last week we learned about Alexis Peltier's tangle with the FAA in Key West, Florida. Alexis is the Kenyan delegate to the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale's Microlight Commission. Shortly after his story was told here on UltraFlight Radio, he got the call he was waiting for to get the process moving forward. (Many thanks to somebody.) Shawn Okun catches us up with Alexis' trip and tells us about the changes in itinerary for the year. Float Planes & Amphibs (5/16/06)

Mike Stratman, California Power Systems
Over the week a listener wrote in with a question about a 503 Rotax engine that just didn't look like the 503 Rotax engines he was used to seeing. The question was, was this even really a Rotax 503 or something else? Well, we passed the question over to our engine expert Mike Stratman and he tells us about the whole pedigree. Mike can also answer your four stroke and two stroke ultralight aircraft engine questions. Do you have questions? When the show is live, call your questions in at (888) 514-2100 or you can IM them in on Yahoo Instant Messenger to
