You can listen to the only All-Ultralight and Light Sport Aviation Radio Show on the Internet
and...
Check Out The Schedule of Ultralight and Light Sport Aviation Events Below
|
UltraFlight Radio can now be found live on Tuesday mornings right here on the web at www.ultraflightradio.com at 10:00am Eastern Standard Time and 7:00am Pacific Time. But you don't have to hear it live to hear it.
You can also hear (previous shows) at the show archive. We make it convenient for you.
To be a part of the show and you are in the U.S., you can call toll-free: 1-866-613-1612. If you are somewhere that the toll-free number does not work, you can reach us at 1-858-268-3068. Another (often better) way to get questions to us is by E-mail. You can write Roy at roy@easyflight.com
Eulalie Langford
Eulalie Langford is the former state representative from Idaho that helped take up the cause of a rancher that wanted to use his powered parachute for predator control. It turned out that the effort took more than passing a state law to allow aerial hunting. Environmentalists turned in the "aerial gunner" to the FAA, who initially shut down the practice despite the state law. Now there is an agreement worked out that involves (of all things) the new Sport Pilot regulations. Listen in for a great story.
Vernon Peckham, Airshow Commentator
Last time we had Vernon Peckham on the show, we barely had time to get started talking to him. This time we take a little more time as he gives some tips to those that want to follow in his footsteps and begin commentating at local fly-ins and airshows. It is the type of activity that adds so much to an event, but requires more than a big speaker and microphone (although that helps a lot, too.) airshotalk@cfl.rr.com
David Ahlberg, WigWag 2K6 Coordinator
For those that seek out true FAI-style Microlight competition in the United States, the Boyer Flight Park is the one place that annually offers it. WigWag is the event and we talk to the organizer, David Ahlberg. We learn important things like how to get involved, what type of competition is offered, how to prepare for the event, and what on earth a WigWag might be. Yahoo Comp Pilot Group
Mike Stratman, California Power Systems
Mike Stratman is back from Sun 'n Fun and has some insights on the show. He spent (as usual) a week on the GA side of the event, but also got a chance to visit with other vendors. He talks about the show from a business point of view. Mike can also answer your four stroke and two stroke ultralight aircraft engine questions. Do you have questions? When the show is live, call your questions in at (888) 613-1612 or you can IM them in on Yahoo Instant Messenger to UFRadio. California Power Systems
Jim Sweeney, USUA and NAPPF Board Member
Jim talks with us about how to approach non-towered airports. Since sport aviators may fly a little lower than other pilots; answers to questions about how to go around an airport, or enter the pattern, or just fly over the top of an airport are sometimes a little bit different than for other pilots. And of course some of it is the same. Jim sorts it all out for us. To follow along, you may want to visit: Getting Around the Traffic Pattern. SweeneyCorp, USUA, NAPPF.
Remember, if you have any questions you want to ask the guests or you have any of your own comments about a topic, please call the show toll free when we're live at (888) 514-2100. If you have a show idea or know someone that would be a guest on the show (that could be you!) Contact Roy.
Hope you get a chance to listen in!

And if You Missed The April 18th Show...
You Can Still Get It In The Archives
|
We archive shows for four to six weeks. But for your convenience, you can access segments from last weeks show straight from this E-mail. Just click on the segment number.
If this is the first time you plan to listen to the radio show, you may need to download a copy of Windows Media Player. Don't fret, there are versions for the Mac, too.
Dan Johnson, ByDanJohnson.com
We talk to Dan Johnson from West Palm Beach, Florida where he is recovering from back surgery caused by a (very) hard landing. Dan wants to thank the many folks that have written and otherwise contacted him over the past couple of weeks. We talk about how he's doing, when he'll be up and about again, and more. ByDanJohnson.com (4/18/06)

Dale Hooper, United States Ultralight Association
Dale Hooper talks about recent USUA activity at Sun 'n Fun. For the first time ever, USUA had both their Board Meeting and their General Membership Meeting in Florida. We catch up with Dale's week in the Sun. United States Ultralight Association (Part 1) (4/18/06)

Ronnie Smith, South Mississippi Light Aircraft
We received a question about the Rotax pull starter. Ronnie goes into detail about how it works and what you do to maintain it. Ronnie is also here to answer your four stroke and two stroke light aircraft engine questions. Do you have any engine questions? When the show is live, call your questions in at (888) 514-2100 or you can IM them in on AOL or Yahoo Instant Messenger to UFRadio. South Mississippi Light Aircraft (4/18/06)

Jim Sweeney, USUA and NAPPF Board Member
The bulk of the airspace everyone shy of an Air Transport Pilot flies in is class E and class G airspace. Recognizing what is what and where is where is still a mystery for some. Unfortunately, the training chart put out by the FAA is not the clearest. Well, Jim Sweeney helps us take some of the mystery out of reading the sectionals and the US Airspace at a Glance Chart. To follow along, you may want to visit: Reading the US Airspace at a Glance Chart. SweeneyCorp, USUA, NAPPF. (Part 1) (4/18/06)
